“It was one way to pass the time.”

Just finished demoing “Slow Machine,” last night with Kerry.  It’s the first thing I’ve recorded for myself in a while, and it’s definitely pretty rough.  Take a listen to it on our new Band Camp account here: Slow Machine.

It’s also free to download.

More demos will be arriving shortly.

In other news, we’ve been invited to come on tour with one of our favorite bands, When I Was 12.  The tour goes from 7th of August to the 15th, and hits CT, MA, VT, PA, DC, MD, and so on.  More info on that as we get it.

Recording "Spooky"

We've had three sessions so far for the recording of our four song e.p. "Spooky." We've basically laid out the entire record and it's just a matter of tweaking and perfecting the thing. We're recording with wizard Brian Malvey (of Art Of Walking) who is also recording our good friend(s) Safe Travels. The recording process is really awesome. Brian's "studio" is his bedroom, so we haven't strayed too far from our bedroom recording roots, only instead of a hand recorder and/or a bootlegged, outdated version of recording software I don't know how to use, we have Brian and Logic, a grand piano sized midi keyboard, an almost-soundproof vocal booth, and a ton of other toys to add in here and there. The experience has been great and the results so far are incredible.
As a test listen, we brought the e.p. to our friend Sarah's house, which is, by all means, haunted. We turned out all the lights, lit a circle of candles in the style of a seance, and gave it a listen. If/when we have our release party, we'd really like to have an intimate listening party in the same manner.

I received this to my personal email account as some sort of dyslexic spam mailer. I would love to meet you, Shelly, and ask you to decode this. How did you ever get my email address anyway?

That's a poor way to introduce this blog.

Here's the proper way, I suppose:

Hello. My name is Matthew Schmid. I am 1/2 of Boy With Robot, a bedroom pop two-piece from South Jersey. I wanted to start this blog to provide updates, information, videos, pictures, songs, etc. Also, I wanted to use it to showcase our favorite bands, artists, locations, and events in the area.
I'm not sure what the format will be, specifically, but I'm sure we'll figure that out as we go.

So, with that said, and introductions made, thanks.

Post again soon,
Matt
